Assistance for Patrons with Mobility Challenges or Disabilities
Sarofim Hall has seating on four levels, each with elevator service and accessible seating on each, while ZIlkha Hall has two levels with similar access.
Our facility also features ADA-approved signage, hand rails and automatic door openers on each floor
The Hobby Center offers valet service, subject to availability, and a 7-floor above ground parking garage, with accessible parking spots on each floor. Elevators service each floor of the garage.
Valet and garage parking are subject to close when capacity is reached and it is recommended that any guests requiring extra assistance arrive no later than 60 minutes prior to the published performance time.
The Hobby Center is proud to have a group of amazing volunteers who make up our Access Team. This group is dedicated to assisting guests with any level of need to experience all that the Hobby Center has to offer. Look for them in their signature yellow shirts at all entry points to the venue. Courtesy wheelchairs are available for additional help getting to your seat.
The Hobby Center’s Access Team operates a courtesy golf cart, courtesy of Houston Area Lexus Dealers, to shuttle guests from the parking garage directly to the front door of the theater. Benches are also available by the garage while you wait for the shuttle to return.
The valet drive on Bagby Street, directly in front of the Hobby Center, is available for drop off and pick up. Access to the drive is limited pre-show after valet reaches capacity and post-show while valet cars are being returned, but Hobby Center staff can assist with opening the drive when needed. The Access Team is also available to help.
Additional drop-off and pick-up is available on Walker Street next to the large statues on the Bagby Street corner. Courtesy wheelchairs are available for additional help getting to your seat.
Wheelchair-accessible and companion restrooms are located on all levels of the Hobby Center.
A service animal is defined by the ADA as an animal that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability and the presence of the animal is acceptable to the event organizer and venue operator. The tasks performed by the animal must be directly related to the person’s disability. Service animals are welcome inside the Hobby Center and must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times.
Please note that emotional support, therapy, comfort, companion animals or service-animals-in-training are not considered service animals under the ADA. If you intend to bring a service animal to an event, please notify your ticket representative at the time of purchase so that an aisle seat may be reserved for you or contact us in advance by sending an e-mail to [email protected] or call (713) 315-2510.
