In an effort to set the standard for accessibility for the arts, the Hobby Center established the Access Team as part of its volunteer program in 2015. These specially-trained volunteers are specifically dedicated to offering assistance to any patron of the Hobby Center that has accessibility needs.
You’ll find the Access Team members at every public performance, clad in their signature yellow golf shirts and black jackets, standing at the ready to help when needed.
The Access Team members operate the parking golf cart shuttle to help patrons with their travels from the Hobby Center garage to the front door, and are also stationed at the valet drive, equipped with venue-owned wheelchairs and are prepared to help people from their cars all the way to their seats.
Additionally, the Access Team typically manages the venue’s Assistive Listening Devices, Audio-Description Devices, and assist with special events like Sensory Friendly Performances and pre-show Touch Tours.
