Independent School District Partners: Aldine, Alief, Dickinson, Houston, Pasadena, Sheldon and Spring
The ExxonMobil Discovery Series is the Hobby Center’s cornerstone educational program bringing students and teachers to the Hobby Center from the greater Houston area to experience performances by Houston-based artists and organizations. Committed to “Introducing 5th graders to the World of the Performing Arts,” the Hobby Center hosted over 10,000 5th graders from 100+ schools across three school districts in the 2023-2024 school year and has doubled its performance offerings for the 2024-2025 school year. Through this TEKS-aligned series, 5th grade students are introduced to dance, music and/or theater in ways that are engaging, fun and further their learning and belonging. Performances are completely free to schools, including bus transportation, and include learning materials and Q&As with artists that create cross-curricular connections and integrate the learning experience into the classroom.
