Presented by Texas Medical Center Orchestra

The Texas Medical Center Orchestra’s Tales of Adventure and Passion concert serves as a poignant reflection on the urgent issue of violence against women, aligning with their commitment to support the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women. This evening is dedicated to honoring the strength and resilience of women everywhere, as they spotlight narratives that inspire change and promote awareness.

The concert begins with Don Juan by Richard Strauss, a dramatic tone poem that encapsulates the complexities of desire and passion, setting the stage for a night of evocative storytelling. Following this, the orchestra features Rhapsody for Alto Saxophone by André Waignein, showcasing the remarkable talents of Rachel Jimenez, the Young Texas Artist competition winner. Her performance is sure to captivate audiences with its emotional depth and technical skill.

As the program unfolds, the TMCO will present Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov, a symphonic suite that brings to life the tales of the “One Thousand and One Nights.” This masterpiece not only enchants with its rich orchestration but also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of women’s voices in storytelling and society.

In honor of International Women’s Month, TMCO will recognize a remarkable woman during the concert, celebrating her contributions and resilience.
