Stewart Goodyear has wowed audiences with his powerful technique and wide-ranging repertoire in recent recitals at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and the Gilmore Piano Festival, as well as concerto appearances with New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.
In a program filled with musical storytelling, Goodyear opens with George Gershwin’s own arrangements of some of his most beloved songs, including The Man I Love and I Got Rhythm. Goodyear then takes on two of the most demanding pieces in the piano repertoire: Ravel’s stunning “Gaspard of the Night,” three fantastical tales evoked through coloristic piano feats; and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, transforming the memory of a St. Petersburg museum visit into a vividly dramatic, monumental tour-de-force.
