Live at the Founders Club presents unforgettable live music in an intimate club setting with sweeping views of downtown Houston.

New York State of Mind with Ben Chavez is a musical journey through the songs that have shaped New Yorker-turned-Houstonian Ben Chavez—from classic crooner standards and Broadway favorites to the great piano legends and selections from his own original music.

Known for his breakout role in the national tour of Disney’s Aladdin and his many performances across Houston’s arts scene, Chavez brings warmth, charisma, and a deeply personal point of view to the stage. Blending song with stories from his life and career, the evening reflects on the music that has inspired him both onstage and off.

Backed by a live band in the Founders Club, New York State of Mind is a celebration of the sounds that connect two cities through one artist’s voice.

About the Artist

Ben Chavez is an award-winning songwriter, actor, and musician. Most well-known for his breakout role in the Broadway National Tour of Disney’s Aladdin, he has performed on several stages across the USA and Canada, including Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, and The Kennedy Center. Chavez is a regular performer at Theatre Under The Stars (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Newsies, Frozen, In the Heights) and was recently seen in the Houston Grand Opera production of West Side Story.

Chavez is a winner of the 2024-2025 Performing Arts Houston New/Now Award for his original concept album entitled Last Day, County Fair. Ben has performed at many prestigious Houston events including the San Luis Salute, Houston Symphony Gala, Knights Of Momus Coronation, Houston Ballet Ball, and Diana Awards, and is a regular guest on KPRC’s Houston Life. He is a proud graduate of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
