Live at the Founders Club presents unforgettable live music in an intimate club setting with sweeping views of downtown Houston.
Jason Moran Performs the Music of Duke Ellington: My Heart Sings celebrates the enduring legacy of Duke Ellington through the singular voice of acclaimed pianist and composer Jason Moran.
Guided by Ellington’s vast and influential body of work, Moran takes audiences on a solo piano ascent up “Mount Ellington,” exploring the depth, invention, and emotional range of one of America’s greatest composers. Both tribute and reinterpretation, the performance reflects Moran’s deep connection to Ellington while bringing a fresh perspective to music that continues to shape jazz today.
Presented in the Founders Club, My Heart Sings offers a rare opportunity to experience Ellington’s timeless music reimagined through one of the most inventive pianists of our time.

About the Artist
Pianist, composer, and artist Jason Moran was most recently the Artistic Director for Jazz at The Kennedy Center. He has released 18 solo recordings with Blue Note Records and Yes Records. He curated the permanent exhibition Here to Stay for the newly opened Louis Armstrong Center in Queens, New York and has co-curated the exhibition I’ve Seen the Wall: Louis Armstrong on Tour in the GDR 1965 at Das Minsk Kunsthaus in Potsdam, Germany.
In 2022, he was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and was recently awarded the 2023 German Jazz Prize for Pianist of the Year. His latest recording, From the Dancehall to the Battlefield, is devoted to the music of World War I jazz pioneer and organizer James Reese Europe, the big bang of jazz.
Jason Moran has collaborated with many contemporary artists such as Joan Jonas, Kara Walker, Stan Douglas, Theaster Gates, and Remy Jungeman.
