Presented by Virtuosi of Houston
Honoring Houston’s own, Doctors Michael & Paul Mann
Virtuosi of Houston is a non-profit premier youth chamber orchestra celebrating its 29th season of exceptional artistry in chamber music education and performance. Distinguished from typical youth orchestras, Virtuosi of Houston is dedicated to the intricate art of chamber music. This unique focus allows gifted young musicians to cultivate confidence, leadership, and a sense of responsibility while refining their musical talents under the expert guidance of two revered conductors: Andrzej Grabiec, a celebrated concert violinist, and Franz Anton Krager, the Director of Orchestras at the University of Houston Moores School of Music. Together, they serve as the Founding Artistic Directors of Virtuosi of Houston, fostering a nurturing and inspiring environment for young artists.
The evening sponsored by Denis and Susan Debakey will shine a spotlight on Houston’s distinguished doctors, Michael and Paul Mann, as they are honored for their contributions to the community. The program will feature a performance by Vanae Schunk, the talented violinist, and Winner of the 26th Annual Virtuosi of Houston Concerto Competition, who will captivate the audience with her skillful artistry. Additionally, an accomplished guitarist, Isaac Bustos will be featured in the Joaquín Rodrigo’s evocative “Concierto de Aranjuez,” promising a breathtaking musical journey.
The celebration will continue with a lively rendition of “The Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saëns, brought to life by pianists Mani Hourfar, a proud alum of Virtuosi, and Yan Shen, paired with engaging narration by Franz and Deborah Krager. The program will also include the delightful “Divertissement Populaire Francais,” arranged by Robert Nelson, ensuring a diverse and enchanting experience. This promises to be a night filled with unforgettable performances and cherished moments!
