Introducing 5th Graders to the World of the Performing Arts
Arts Partner: TAIKOPROJECT
TAIKOPROJECT’s “BENZAITEN” is inspired by the Japanese goddess of wisdom, beauty, and dance. Performed by 12 performers, students learn about traditional and modern expressions of the taiko (Japanese drum) art form on a vast array of authentic instruments hand-crafted in Japan, from the snare drum-sized shime-taiko to the 350-lb, 5-foot wide Ohiradaiko.
Learn More about the Hobby Center’s educational programming and future opportunities for all Houston school districts.
This project is supported in part by an award from the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Mid-America Arts Alliance.
