Breaking Bread is presented by the Hobby Center in partnership with James Beard Award-winning chef and TV host Chris Shepherd. He trades his chef’s jacket for a mic, hosting influential creatives and thinkers who inspire him in unscripted chats about the experiences that shaped them.

Enjoy unforgettable stories, small club vibes, and a killer menu curated by Chris especially for the Founders Club.

When Chris Shepherd sits down with Gail Simmons, it won’t be a formal interview—it will be two longtime friends sharing stories. Best known as a judge and executive producer of Bravo’s Top Chef, Simmons joins Chris for an evening of conversation about the people, moments, and lessons that have shaped their careers. Along the way, they’ll explore mentorship, leadership, and the evolving culture of food, with the warmth, humor, and honesty that come from years of friendship.

ABOUT THE BREAKING BREAD SERIES

Back when Chris Shepherd was running restaurants, he would place uncut loaves of bread on the table for guests to tear apart together, a way to get people talking. He’s always believed the table is one of the last places where community happens naturally. That idea is the heartbeat of this series.
