SUPPORT
US
Since opening in
May 2002, the Hobby Center has been
a shining star in Houston’s downtown Theater
District. The $100 million performing arts complex has served as a model
for revitalization and redevelopment projects across the country. While
city-owned, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit facility is privately managed by the
Houston Music Hall Foundation and its Board of Directors. The Foundation’s
mission is to ensure the Hobby
Center exceeds the community’s
expectations. The Hobby’s annual operating support comes from private
philanthropy, funded by generous individuals, corporations and
foundations.
Financial and volunteer support is, therefore,
invaluable in helping us achieve our community-focused goals including:
Expand outreach initiatives, making it possible to double
the number of Houston Independent School
District and area schoolchildren served through the
Hobby’s Education and
Outreach programs.
Increase level of community
service, while focusing on expansion of the geographic area served by Uniquely
Houston
®.
Assist
the talented nonprofit performing arts groups of the Uniquely Houston® series by
offering and facilitating workshops on technical theatre, audience development
and marketing to increase the overall production value.
Develop foundation and major
donor programs that will both help to cover the costs of the Uniquely Houston® series (not covered
by rent/user fees) and to help subsidize Uniquely Houston® groups’ hard costs
enabling the organizations to increase and enhance their own outreach
initiatives.
Reach out to community service organizations through benefit
performances that bring individuals and organizations together in support
worthwhile causes.
Overall, the
Hobby Center is dedicated to
community reinvestment via visionary educational and outreach programs, making a
real difference in both the quality of life for Houston’s
citizens the Bayou City’s profile as
a great American City.
