EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
The
vision of the Hobby Center is grounded in the philosophy of serving the
entire community and reflecting the contemporary spirit that is so unique
to Houston. The mission is not only to bring world-class entertainment and innovative
works to current arts lovers, but perhaps more importantly, to inspire
the next generation of performers and patrons. This outreach effort is part of
the Hobby Center’s identity. Zilkha Hall was always intended to be the
home for small to mid-size arts groups looking to expand their audiences and a
place where families could bring their children for cost-effective, meaningful
educational programs.
The
Hobby Center is fulfilling its mission through dynamic community partnerships -
a successful affiliation with the Houston Independent School District (HISD)and our Uniquely
Houston® groups Thus far, thousands of
school children have been introduced to the magic of live entertainment - music,
theatre and dance - many for the first time.
