EDUCATION AND OUTREACH

undefined The vision of the Hobby Center is grounded in the philosophy of serving the entire community and reflecting the contemporary spirit that is so unique to Houston. The mission is not only to bring world-class entertainment and innovative works to current arts lovers, but perhaps more importantly, to inspire the next generation of performers and patrons. This outreach effort is part of the Hobby Center’s identity. Zilkha Hall was always intended to be the home for small to mid-size arts groups looking to expand their audiences and a place where families could bring their children for cost-effective, meaningful educational programs.

The Hobby Center is fulfilling its mission through dynamic community partnerships - a successful affiliation with the Houston Independent School District (HISD), as well as collaborations with Stages Repertory Theatre’s EarlyStages and our Uniquely Houston® groups. Thus far, thousands of schoolchildren have been introduced to the magic of live entertainment - music, theatre and dance - many for the first time.
