Dec 3, 2016
Virtuosi of Houston / Zilka Hall

At this performance Virtuosi will present chamber works the orchestra will be performing in the UK on their one week visit as part of Virtuosi Around the Globe including: "Crown Imperial" by Sir William Walton, Suite from "Music for the Royal Fireworks," which Handel wrote for King George II and was the recessional music for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, and the "London Suite" by Eric Coates.

Virtuosi of Houston, a non-profit arts organization, is a premier youth chamber orchestra celebrating its twenty-first season of excellence in chamber music education and performance. The musicians, ages 11 to 18, are from the greater Houston area and are selected from annual auditions. Unlike most youth orchestras, the educational focus of Virtuosi of Houston is on chamber and jazz music. The limited size of both orchestras, 50 musicians for the Chamber orchestra and 27 for the Jazz orchestra requires the young artists to perform at an exemplary level. The orchestra is conducted by Franz Anton Krager and Andrzej Grabiec, who are also faculty members of the Moores School of Music and are the Founding Artistic Directors of Virtuosi.
