Open World Dance Foundation presents an exciting world premiere of the ballet Cinderella, bringing together top level theater professionals and local youth in celebration of composer, Sergei Prokofiev's 125th Anniversary.
Open World Dance Foundation is a non-profit organization promoting the preservation of true classical ballet and art education which introduces underprivileged children and youth to the many facets of professional ballet and theatre.
In support of our mission Misty Copeland and Calvin Royal III who are guest artists from American Ballet Theatre will be performing as Cinderella and Prince in this production. They will share the stage with other professional dancers from all over the United States and local children and youth of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, promoting the Foundation's motto "United by Dance."
This new creation of the ballet Cinderella has been inspired by orphans of St. Petersburg Russia where they sketched on paper what they thought this fairytale should look like onstage. A drawing by an eleven year old girl of Cinderella's house dress was chosen as an inspiration for the costume design that will be worn by Misty Copeland on stage. Another young gifted orphan sketched her own ideas of all scenes of the ballet and it became backdrops for the show and gave life to the stage design. With the imagination and creation of these talented kids these drawings are now the inspiration that will come to life for the Open World Dance Foundation's production of Cinderella.
